BEIGIN, Jan. 04 (YPA) – The Chinese Foreign Ministry has officially called on the United States to immediately release Venezuelan President Nicole Ermes Maduro and his wife Celia Flores.
The ministry’s demand came after a major US military operation that targeted Venezuelan capital, during which Maduro and Flores were arrested in Caracas and taken to the United States.
The ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the United States should also ensure the safety of Maduro and his wife, stressing that taking them away was a violation of international law and international norms.
On Saturday, the Chinese foreign ministry strongly condemned the use of force by the United States against a sovereign country and the targeting of its president.
The ministry stressed that Washington’s behavior constituted a serious violation of international law, and Venezuela’s sovereignty and a threat to international peace and security, urging Washington to “abide by international law and stop violating the sovereignty of other countries.
This came as several countries condemned the US operation against Venezuela, stressing that it was a serious violation of international law.
The United States launched an aggression on Saturday against the Venezuelan capital Caracas, targeting ports, airports and military bases, and kidnapping and its forces Maduro and his wife.
