BEIRUT, Jan. 03 (YPA) – Lebanon’s Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem said on Saturday that the priority at the current stage would be to stop the Israeli aggression, withdraw from the occupied territories, free the prisoners, in addition to starting reconstruction of the war’s aftermath.
In a speech delivered during the commemoration of the sixth anniversary of the martyrdom of General Qasem Soleimani and commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Sheikh Qasem stressed that “whoever justifies Israeli occupation or does not exert any pressure to stop its aggression against Lebanon, and does not support the Palestinian cause, even through media pressure, bears a great moral responsibility”.
He called for strengthening the capabilities of the Lebanese army and arming it to enable it to face challenges and dangers.
At the internal level, Sheikh Qassim called on the Lebanese to dialogue and consensus, stressing the importance of national unity in the face of challenges, and the need to hold parliamentary elections on their constitutional dates.
Regarding to relations with Iran, Sheikh Qassem considered that Tehran supports its allies without compensation and seeks to stabilize the region, unlike what he described as the interference of foreign and Arab tutelage in the economic and political affairs of countries.
He also stressed that the resistance sees the United States and Israeli occupation as aggressor forces against Lebanon, adding that resisting the occupation and rejecting corruption is a religious and national choice.
Sheikh Qasem concluded by stressing that Lebanon has formed a model of sacrifice and liberation thanks to its resistance, its people and its army, pointing to the symbolism of the sacrifices made for the Palestinian cause, describing as the model of Yemen supporting this cause .
