First Palestinian martyr of 2026 killed near Nablus

NABLUS, Jan. 01 (YPA) – A young Palestinian man was killed and another was wounded by Israeli gunfire at dawn on Thursday in the village of Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya, south of Nablus.

The head of the Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya village council, Yaqoub Awais, said that the two young men were shot by Israeli forces while at the village entrance on the main road between Ramallah and Nablus. One of the men was critically wounded and later died, according to his family, after being transferred to a hospital inside the 1948 territories.

He added that the second wounded young man was taken to Salfit Hospital after being shot four times while trying to rescue the first. His condition is stable.
