Israel witnesses stormy weather, floods sweep away cars, close roads

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Dec. 28 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation witnessed stormy weather on Sunday due to a low-pressure system that caused heavy rainfall, turning into flash floods that swept away cars, where a bridge and a road were closed.

Police announced the closure of the Tze’elim Bridge on Route 234 to traffic until further notice, and Route 90 between the bicycle junction and the hotel roundabout in both directions.

Hebrew media outlets broadcast videos of cars and people trapped in the floodwaters, amid rescue attempts.

In a statement, the Israeli Meteorological Service said that intermittent rain would continue on Sunday, and the weather would be colder than usual.

“There is still a risk of flooding in the waterways in the east of the country. In the afternoon, the rain will gradually subside, then intensify again during the night.”
