GAZA, Dec. 28 (YPA) – Gaza Municipality spokesman Hosni Muhanna, on Sunday, renewed his warning of an imminent catastrophe threatening the residents of the Gaza Strip due to the current storm, amid fuel shortages.
It is noteworthy thaf the plight of displaced Gaza residents living in dilapidated tents has been renewed with the arrival of the storm.
Despite early and repeated warnings, the fragile infrastructure has led to tents being flooded and blown away by the strong winds.
Muhanna explained that the fuel shortage is preventing the operation of emergency vehicles and sanitation services, and that the municipality will be unable to effectively carry out rescue and relief operations.
Muhanna stressed that the infrastructure is destroyed by the war, the accumulation of rubble, and the collapse of the sewage system. Therefore, the storm poses a real danger to the lives of thousands of displaced people.
The municipality spokesman called for urgent international intervention to pressure the occupation to allow the entry of fuel and humanitarian aid, warning of a further collapse in basic services if the current situation continues.
The region is being affected by a rainy storm, the third since the start of the winter season, where heavy rain is expected until Monday, according to the meteorological service.
