SANAA, Dec. 21 (YPA) – An extensive meeting was held on Sunday at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sanaa Governorate, chaired by the Acting Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Sam Al-Bashiri, to discuss strategies for advancing the leather tanning and manufacturing sector and protecting local products.
At the meeting, Al-Bashiri affirmed that the ministry is developing a “National Policy Document” to modernize the leather sector and is implementing a “single-window” regulatory system to streamline inspections and protect local producers from irregular practices.
The meeting emphasized providing exemptions, incentives, and guarantees under the Investment Law, while seeking financing mechanisms to restart factories affected by the ongoing conflict.
The meeting also confirmed need to form a joint work team—comprising the Ministry, the Yemen Standardization, Metrology, and Quality Control Organization (YSMO), and the Chamber of Commerce— to review production inputs and conduct field visits to assess the needs of stalled facilities.
The participants stressed the importance of collaboration between local authorities and the private sector to increase production efficiency and ensure the sustainable growth of this vital industrial branch.
