Gaza Civil Defense: Over 17 residential buildings completely collapsed

GAZA, Dec. 18 (YPA) – Mahmoud Bassal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense, confirmed on Thursday that more than 17 residential buildings have completely collapsed since the onset of the recent weather systems.

He stated that over 90 residential buildings have suffered serious partial collapses, posing a direct threat to the lives of thousands of Palestinian residents.

Bassal noted that approximately 90% of shelters in the Gaza Strip have been completely flooded due to the heavy rains and floods.

He added that all residents’ tents across the Gaza Strip were damaged and flooded, leaving thousands of families without temporary shelter and destroying clothing, mattresses, and blankets, further worsening their humanitarian suffering.

The severe weather has killed 17 people, including four children from extreme cold, while others died in building collapses.
