4.0-magnitude earthquake strikes “Haradh” eastern Saudi Arabia

RIYADH, Dec. 17 (YPA) – The Saudi Geological Survey’s seismic monitoring stations recorded a 4.0-magnitude earthquake early Wednesday morning with its epicenter located 9 kilometers east of the Haradh governorate in the Eastern Province.

The monitoring stations confirmed that the tremor, which occurred at a depth of 8 kilometers, resulted in no casualties or material damage. Experts attributed the earthquake to tectonic pressures caused by the collision of the Arabian and Eurasian plates at the Zagros Mountains.

This seismic activity coincides with alerts issued by the National Center of Meteorology regarding weather fluctuations across nine administrative regions. With forecasts predicting rain, active winds, and reduced visibility, authorities have urged the public to exercise caution and strictly follow safety guidelines.
