WASHINGTON, dec.17 (YPA) – Pakistani army’s chief, Asim Munir, expected to visit the US capital, Washington, to meet with US President Donald Trump and to discuss the plan that aims to form an international force to oversee stability in the Gaza Strip, according to Reuters.
The two sources pointed out that Munir’s upcoming visit will be his third to the United States in six months to meet with Trump.
Trump’s 20-point plan for a ceasefire in Gaza includes the creation of an international force to monitor the transitional period of reconstruction and economic recovery in the Israeli aggression-affected Palestinian strip.
In November, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that Islamabad might consider contributing peacekeepers, stressing that “disarming Hamas is not one of tasks”.
For his part, Trump announced on Tuesday that 59 countries expressed their readiness to participate in the stabilization force in Gaza, adding in a speech in the White House that the force is actually working, and that additional countries will join it soon.
The first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza began on October 10, while Hebrew media reported on Monday that the government of Benjamin Netanyahu is still reluctant to move to the second phase of the agreement despite American pressure.
