Psychological pressures push Israeli occupation soldiers to commit suicide

QUDS, Dec. 06 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation army has been suffering from a significant increase in deaths that psychological pressures caused by within the ranks of soldiers since the start of military operations in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

According to the Hebrew newspaper “Haaretz”, the figures indicated that this phenomenon was constantly expanding, as the number of registered cases increased in late 2023 and an additional increase was recorded in 2024, exceeding in the first months of 2025 the previous annual rate of only 12 cases.

“Haaretz” quoted military and medical sources as saying that the stresses of the war contributed to new deaths, including a former reserve officer who was receiving psychiatric treatment. Monitoring organizations emphasize that the official figures may not reflect the true scale of the problem, especially among demobilized soldiers, as additional deaths were recorded between soldiers and police officers.

The occupation army attributed this increase to the widespread deployment of troops and violent combat confrontations in Gaza, noting that combat-related situations have become more present compared to personal circumstances.

Families and therapists warn of a widening scale of psychological deterioration in the military institution as the war continues and the burden of combat increases.
