Saudi military proposal offers key Yemen territory to separatists if deal fails

HADRAMOUT, Dec. 03 (YPA) – A delegation of Saudi officers, accompanied by the commander of the Riyadh-backed ‘Dera Al-Watan’ factions, arrived in the city of Seiyun in Hadramout province, well-informed sources reported.

The visit signals a significant escalation in efforts to restructure the military landscape of the strategic region.

The sources stated that the Saudi officers held a closed-door meeting with the commander of the First Military Region at its headquarters in Seiyun.

During the meeting, the delegation presented a proposal that would allow the ‘Dera Al-Watan’ Forces to deploy in the positions currently held by the the first  military region units, specifically targeting locations held by troops primarily from Yemen’s northern provinces, according to military sources.

The sources further indicate that the proposal includes an option to grant the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias total control over the First Military Region’s areas, if the agreement for the ‘ Dera Al-Watan’ Forces’ entry collapse. T

The moves come as Hadramout experiences rising tensions, marked by increased military mobilizations from all sides and a continued conflict over the future of the First Military Region’s forces and their place in the province.
