HODEIDA, Nov. 20 (YPA) – Residents and activists have expressed widespread outrage over the release of a man accused of raping a child in Al-Khokha, southern Hodeida, a region under the control of Saudi-led coalition factions. The incident has also fueled accusations of corruption and biased justice in the Tihama area.
According to local human rights sources, Al-Khokha security director Ismail Qadro, a coalition loyalist, released the suspect despite a medical report from October 21 confirming the child had been raped.
Sources indicated that the suspect was released because he is “a relative of influential figures on the Tihama coast,” leaving the victim’s family unable to pursue any legal action against him.
Outraged Tihama residents have threatened to stage protests at the Al-Khokha security headquarters and escalate their actions until the suspect is rearrested and faces a “deterrent” sentence in court.
