Maduro responds to Trump: ‘Dialogue is only path to finding truth, peace’
CARACAS, Nov. 18 (YPA) – Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro directly responded to statements by his American counterpart, Donald Trump, regarding the possibility of opening communication channels.
In a statement, Maduro asserted that the only options are peace, dialogue, and diplomacy.
He emphasized that Venezuela is open to face-to-face dialogue with the United States, and that dialogue is the path to finding truth and peace.
Venezuela’s President warned that the alternative to peace in the Americas was eternal wars, accusing those close to Trump of trying to push him to commit the biggest mistake of his career by attacking Venezuela.
He ridiculed American talk of military and subversive scenarios, questioning who Washington would install to rule the country, referring to Juan Guaidó and María Corina Machado.
Maduro pointed to increased popular support for the government and the armed forces, asserting that 94% of Venezuelans reject military threats.
Maduro’s remarks came after Trump had previously indicated that the possibility of opening channels of communication with Caracas was now on the table.
