Leaked document reveals Saudi directives to shell pro-UAE factions in Bab al-Mandab

LAHJ, Nov. 16 (YPA) – A document issued by a resigned leader in the Saudi-funded “Dera Al-Watan” factions revealed high-level directives to shell UAE-affiliated factions positioned on the coasts overlooking the Bab al-Mandab strait.

Surur Abdullah Al-Boukari, the Chief of Staff of the “Second Brigade” in “Dera Al-Watan” attributed his resignation last week to what he described as “supreme Saudi orders” dictating a refusal to cooperate with the commander of the UAE-backed “Al-Amaliqa Brigade,” Hamdi Shukri Al-Subaihi.

The resignation document indicated that the Saudi leadership recently instructed “Dera Al-Watan” to override Al-Subaihi’s orders, intercept his forces in the Ras al-A’ra region, and confront them directly if necessary, amid an unprecedented conflict for influence between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi in Yemen.

These developments follow armed tensions witnessed in the Ras al-A’ra area last week, which resulted in the dissolution of the partnership and all forms of security coordination between the Saudi-aligned and Emirati-aligned factions.
