4.5-magnitude earthquake hits southern coast of Yemen

DHAMAR, Nov. 13 (YPA) – A 4.5-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale on Thursday struck off the southern coast of Yemen.

The daily bulletin issued by the Earthquake and Volcano Monitoring Center in Dhamar province confirmed that monitoring stations recorded the first earthquake, measuring 4.1, at 7:10 PM on Wednesday, east of the Gulf of Aden.

The bulletin indicated that the second earthquake, measuring 3.9, occurred at 7:46 PM in the same area, while the third, also measuring 3.9, struck at 10:22 PM, east of the Gulf of Aden.

It added that the fourth earthquake, measuring 4.5, occurred at 1:25 PM, east of the Gulf of Aden.

The expected possibilities indicate that tremors will occur around the epicenter of the marine earthquake itself or through the transfer of seismic energy to other places.

This comes after Yemeni monitoring stations recorded an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 near the UAE’s Fujairah city on November 4.
