Jaara: Return of soldier Goldin’s body after 11 years exposes Israel’s deterrence failure

GAZA, Nov. 12 (YPA) – Omar Jaara, an expert on Israeli affairs, stated on Tuesday that the return of Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin’s body after 11 years in Gaza’s resistance custody demonstrates that Israel can only obtain anything from the resistance through exchanges and negotiation, despite its military and intelligence superiority.

In remarks to the Palestinian Shehab News Agency, Jaara said the Israeli government knew from the outset that the only way to recover the body was through a prisoner exchange. However, he criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him a “war criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court,” for rejecting previous offers from the resistance, mistakenly believing he could retrieve the body through military force.

He added that “Israel” lives under the illusion that it can impose its will through military pressure, but the Goldin case proves the state’s inability to achieve its objectives without negotiations and agreements.

Jaara concluded that the incident exposes the failure of Israel’s deterrence system and undermines the narrative of military and intelligence superiority.

He stressed the importance of Palestinian media highlighting this reality, noting that “Israel” does not forget such strategic setbacks.
