Sanaa begins trial of 21 suspects in spy network linked to US, Israeli, Saudi intelligence
SANAA, Nov. 10 (YPA) – The Specialized Criminal Court in the capital, Sanaa, on Sunday, commenced the initial session for the trial of 21 defendants belonging to a dangerous international espionage network.
The network is reportedly based on Saudi territory and operated by a joint operations room involving US Intelligence, the Israeli Mossad, and Saudi Intelligence.
During the session, which was presided over by Judge Yahya Al-Mansour, the indictment resolutions were read out, and the defendants were confronted with the charges and evidence. The charges include serious crimes against state security and defense secrets, most notably:
Direct collusion and communication with hostile foreign intelligence agencies (Saudi Arabia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Israeli Mossad).
Providing the enemies with highly sensitive information regarding the locations and movements of state leaders, as well as military, security, and political secrets.
Collecting precise data on military manufacturing sites, missile storage facilities, sources of acquisition, and launch locations.
Aiding the aggressor states by recruiting citizens and planting covert surveillance cameras, which resulted in the targeting of several military, security, and civilian sites.
The Public Prosecution asserted that the defendants received encrypted communication tools, training courses on the use of secret cameras, and substantial financial payments in exchange for their espionage services.
At the conclusion of the session, the Court granted the defendants an opportunity to present their defense arguments at the next scheduled hearing.
