Gaza: Fragile ceasefire amid residential demolitions and ongoing blockade

GAZA, Nov. 09 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces continued their ceasefire violations on Sunday, nearly a month after a truce between Palestinian resistance factions and the Israeli army came into effect, leaving Gaza’s humanitarian situation volatile.

Daily violations include limited airstrikes, a blockade restricting fuel and medical supplies, and nightly demolition of residential buildings in central and southern Gaza. Humanitarian aid entering through crossings remains insufficient to meet basic needs, worsening the crisis.

Concerns are growing over detainee abuses. The Guardian reported that dozens of Palestinians in Ramle Prison are held in underground cells without sufficient light or food and face regular beatings and humiliation, in apparent disregard of international law.

On the military front, reports indicate the Al-Qassam Brigades are preparing to return the body of Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin, recovered in Rafah. Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir reportedly visited Goldin’s family home, signaling that the handover may be imminent.

Gaza’s Ministry of Health said the death toll has exceeded 69,000 since October 7, 2025, as rescue teams continue recovering bodies from the rubble. Even during relative calm, Gaza remains trapped in a reality of prolonged loss and destruction.
