SHABWA, Nov. 04 (YPA) – The UAE-backed armed factions have imposed a tight siege on the home of senior businessman Mohammed Saleh Al-Hamami in Ataq city, the provincial capital of Shabwa, in a development that reflects the security chaos in the province.
A local source familiar the matter said that armed elements on armored personnel carriers belonging to UAE-funded factions were deployed heavily on Monday around the home of “Al-Hamami” from all directions.
The source indicated that the reasons behind targeting “Al-Hamami” kept unclear.
This siege comes amid ongoing security turmoil in Ataq and other districts of Shabwa, which frequently witness raids and arrests targeting businessmen and activists.
Criticism is being mounted against the policies of the UAE-backed local authorities, which are accused of using excessive force and security crackdowns as a tool for settling political scores against those opposed to the foreign presence in the province.
