Dog ‘Kiri’ in Aden exposes starvation policy of UAE-backed factions

ADEN, Nov. 04 (YPA) – Shocking posts by Southern Yemeni activists have exposed a humanitarian scandal gripping the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions, where hundreds of recruited soldiers and their families are suffering from starvation and salary cuts for the past six months.

Activists confirmed that personnel in factions such as “Al-Asifah” (The Storm) are living in tragic conditions after their financial entitlements were suspended since last June, while their children are “groaning from hunger.”

“Commander’s Dog ‘Kiri’ Better Off Than Soldiers”

In stark contrast, sources have reported that the pampered dog “Kiri,” belonging to the commander of the “Al-Asifah” factions in Aden, Awsan Al-Anshali, receives exceptional care and attention. The dog is allocated a monthly budget in US Dollars, a private veterinarian, and a daily portion of chicken.

Meanwhile, the soldiers and their families are forced to subsist on meager amounts of food that fail to satisfy their children’s hunger due amidst their inability to purchase food due to the suspended salaries.

Observers view this treatment not merely as negligence but as an “intentional and humiliating message” from the faction leaders that the dog “Kiri” is valued more than the blood and future of their recruits who sacrifice their lives for external interests.

Activists noted that the policy of “starving” the STC and other loyal factions is part of a systematic strategy to push hundreds of desperate recruits to join the camps of “Tareq Afash” (UAE-backed commander) on the west coast, in a scenario similar to what occurred with the “Security Belt” factions in Dhalea governorate recently, aiming to redirect military loyalties.
