MUSCAT, Nov. 03 (YPA) – The UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, concluded a visit to Oman and Bahrain as part of his ongoing efforts to engage the parties to the conflict and regional states in advancing a negotiated political settlement in Yemen.
During his visit on October 27-30, Grundberg held a series of discussions in Muscat with senior Omani officials and the head of the Sanaa negotiating delegation, Mohammed Abdul Salam.
The discussions focused on strengthening efforts to end the conflict in Yemen and creating the conditions conducive to resuming a comprehensive UN-sponsored political process.
He emphasized that the regional context would offer an opportunity to revive momentum toward de-escalation and strengthen dialogue in support of the peace process in Yemen.
The UN envoy called on all parties to exercise restraint, engage in dialogue, and take practical steps to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
