GAZA, Oct. 30 (YPA) – The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, handed over bodies of two Israeli prisoners to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) this afternoon, Thursday.
This action comes within the framework of the prisoner exchange deal named “Al-Aqsa Flood.”
Al-Qassam stated in a brief communiqué that the handover took place at 4:00 PM Gaza time.
The transfer comes despite a prior decision by Al-Qassam to halt the handover of bodies—including the bodies of the two prisoners, Amiram Cooper and Saher Baruch, recently recovered—due to what it described as the “occupation’s breach of the agreement.” This breach involved launching fierce and intensified aerial bombardment on the Gaza Strip.
Gaza witnessed an unprecedented Israeli escalation on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, which resulted in the martyrdom of at least 100 Palestinians, allegedly in response to the delay in handing over the bodies and the death of a soldier.
With the handover of these two bodies, 11 Israeli bodies remain in the Gaza Strip, which Hamas is scheduled to hand over once they are located.
