GAZA, Oct. 30 (YPA) – The Hamas movement condemned on Wednesday Israeli Defense Minister’s decision to bar representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross from visiting hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, deeming it a violation of a fundamental right of prisoners.
In a news statement, the movement said the decision added to a series of systematic and criminal violations to which prisoners have been subjected, including killing, torture, starvation, medical neglect, and the withholding of information.
The statement called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene to stop these brutal measures against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, which constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Third Geneva Convention.
It urged serious efforts to secure the prisoners’ release, expose the enemy’s brutal practices, and hold its leaders accountable for their unprecedented crimes against humanity.
