New tribe joins confrontation line in Shabwa; cuts int’l road to demand release of ‘Al-Qumaishi’

SHABWA, Oct. 29 (YPA) – Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, witnessed a dangerous escalation in tension on Tuesday after a new tribe joined the confrontation with the authorities loyal to the UAE.

This move supports the demands of the Luqmoush tribes for the release of the head of the “Peaceful Al-Karama Movement,” Sheikh Saleh Al-Dhabi Al-Qumaishi, and his detained companions.

A local source confirmed that dozens of armed men from the “Dha’eeb Himyar” tribe in the Radhoum district, led by the deputy head of the “Al-Karama Movement,” cut off the international road linking Shabwa with Hadramout and Aden provinces.

This escalating protest action comes against the authorities’ failure to respond to the tribes’ demands. The armed men prevented the passage of military vehicles belonging to the UAE-backed factions, as well as gas and oil tankers heading to Aden and Hadramout. The road closure aims to pressure the local authorities to release Sheikh Al-Qumaishi and his companions, who have been detained since last Saturday.
