Protests organized at Charles de Gaulle Airport against France’s transfer of weapons to Israeli occupation
PARIS, Oct. 28 (YPA) – Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport, on the outskirts of the French capital, Paris, witnessed a large-scale protest last Saturday, involving a number of airport workers, labor unions, and associations supporting the Palestinian cause. They demanded a complete halt to any transfer or export of military or dual-use equipment to the Israeli occupation.
The protesters emphasized that Charles de Gaulle Airport is frequently used to transport shipments of weapons and electronic components sent to Israeli companies specializing in the manufacture of drones and weapons systems, despite repeated warnings issued by labor unions in this regard.
A number of airport workers stressed that they refuse to participate in shipping operations that contribute to the continuation of what they described as “the war on Gaza.” They called for workers to be given the right to refuse the transport of goods that could be used for military purposes or in support of Israeli combat operations.
The protest witnessed a heavy security presence inside the airport, as police attempted to surround the protesters after an official decision was issued prohibiting gatherings in the airport’s vicinity.
Despite that decision, the demonstrators organized a spontaneous march inside one of the airport halls, raising banners and slogans demanding a comprehensive ban on arms exports to the Israeli occupation.
According to reports from non-governmental organizations, the value of French military exports to the occupation reached 27.1 million euros in 2024, the highest level in eight years.
