Newest US ‘OA-1K Skyraider II’ attack aircraft crashes near Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA, Oct. 25 (YPA) – The Oklahoma Air National Guard said on Saturday that an OA-1K Skyraider II attack aircraft, which recently entered service with the U.S. Air Force, crashed during a routine training flight southeast of Oklahoma City.

According to the National Guard, no injuries resulted from the incident. A civilian contractor and an Air Force member were aboard the aircraft at the time.

The Fire Department reported that the plane struck two utility poles upon landing, causing power lines to fall and sparking a small grass fire, which was quickly extinguished.

The cause of the crash involving the aircraft, a modern platform designed for low-cost close air support, remains under investigation.
