UAE forces arrest six recruits from Shabwa’s Radhum tribe

SHABWA, Oct. 19 (YPA) – UAE forces, located at the Balhaf gas facility in the coastal Radhum district of Shabwa province since 2016, have kidnapped a number of recruits from the district and thrown them into their notorious secret detention centers within the base overlooking the Arabian Sea.

Local sources familiar with the matter revealed that last night, UAE forces arrested six recruits from the district who were at the Balhaf camp following a verbal altercation with an Emirati officer inside the facility. The altercation culminated in their being taken to one of the camp’s underground cells.

The sources said that the kidnapping of the recruits has sparked resentment and concern among the tribes to which the recruits belong, particularly given that this is not the first time recruits from the Radhum tribe have been subjected to such humiliation. This raises questions about the nature of treatment within Emirati camps and the violations committed against local recruits on their own land
