Israeli-backed militia leader in Gaza: “Israel continues to protect us in yellow zone”

GAZA, Oct. 12 (YPA) – The Hebrew channel “Kan” revealed on Sunday provocative statements from the leader of one of the militias supported by the Israeli occupation in Khan Yunis, called “Hossam Al-Astal.

The channel cited Al-Astal as saying, “Israel continues to protect us, and we continue to operate within the Yellow Line,” in reference to areas of Israeli control.

Al-Astal confirmed that the area they are in is free of Hamas and civilians, and that “civilians are prohibited from entering,” which reinforces the policy of demographic isolation.

These statements come amid Palestinian warnings about the occupation’s attempts to recruit local groups to serve its security projects.

In a related context, the Palestinian Ministry of Interior in Gaza granted a one-week deadline for militia members and collaborators to surrender and regularize their status in exchange for a general amnesty.
