WORLD, Oct. 09 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump announced Thursday that captives held by the Palestinian group Hamas will be released next Monday as part of a ceasefire agreement reached between “Israel” and the group.
“So much is happening to get the hostages freed, and we think they’ll all be coming back on Monday, so it looks like that’s the thing, and that’ll include the bodies of the dead,” Trump said in a phone interview on Fox News.
He added that the Gaza Strip would see reconstruction efforts and the formation of a “Peace Council” aimed at ensuring the well-being of the population.
Trump also stated that the United States would “be part of” the peacekeeping mission in Gaza.
Earlier in the day, President Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement under which Hamas would release all remaining hostages and Israel would withdraw its forces to an agreed-upon line.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America,” the president wrote on Truth Social. “BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”
