Vatican: Israel’s inhumane massacres in Gaza with international complicity cannot be justified

ROME, Oct. 08 (YPA) – The Vatican launched one of its strongest condemnations against the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, with its top diplomat, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, describing what is happening as a “continuous, inhuman, and indefensible massacre.”

In an interview published on Tuesday, Cardinal Parolin stressed that the “right to self-defense does not mean destroying an entire city over the heads of its inhabitants,” asserting that the current Israeli war lacks any moral or humanitarian justification.

Parolin accused the international community of helplessness and complicity, stating that “countries capable of stopping it have done nothing.” He also criticized Western nations for continuing to supply the perpetrators with weapons being used against civilians.

The Israeli Embassy to the Vatican expressed its “regret” over Parolin’s use of the term “massacre,” in an attempt to downplay the severity of the condemnation issued by the highest Catholic religious authority.
