MSF ends operations in Shabwa, Yemen

SHABWA, Oct. 07 (YPA) – Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced the termination of its operations in the Shabwa Governorate, which is controlled by UAE-backed factions in southeastern Yemen.

In a statement posted on its Facebook account on Monday evening, the organization explained that it has ended its project providing assistance to the Ataq Hospital and health centers in Bihan and Usailan districts.

MSF added that all activities were handed over to the Ministry of Health in the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition on September 30. The organization clarified that since the project began, it had committed to staying in Shabwa for only four years.

The statement noted that in cooperation with its partners, MSF had made significant progress in contributing to improved child health and strengthening emergency medical capabilities in the governorate.

MSF also affirmed its commitment to its contractual obligations towards its staff.
