Hamas: Aggression on Gaza is “comprehensive genocide” that failed to achieve its goals despite US support
GAZA, Oct. 07 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) affirmed on Tuesday that its priority is the immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression and genocide war on the Gaza Strip, stressing its full commitment to the fixed national rights of the Palestinian people.
This was stated by Hamas leader Fawzi Barhoum during a press conference. Barhoum described the aggression on Gaza as the “ugliest in modern history,” which has left more than 67,000 dead, 170,000 wounded, and 15,000 missing, most of them women and children.
He also noted the deaths of more than 500 Palestinians as a result of deliberate starvation, pointing to the full American partnership and the blatant international inaction in the face of these crimes.
Barhoum explained that the Israeli occupation “utterly failed” to achieve its aggressive goals, despite the systematic massacres it committed and the full American support, noting that the resistance remains committed to its choice.
He also pointed out that the movement’s delegation at the Cairo negotiations is seeking an agreement that meets the aspirations of the Palestinian people, primarily: a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from the Strip, unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid, the return of displaced persons, the start of reconstruction under a Palestinian national body, and a fair prisoner exchange deal.
Barhoum called on the international community to take urgent action to stop the genocide and hold the occupation leaders accountable.
