SANAA, Oct. 05 (YPA) – The Italian island of Lido, which is hosting the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, witnessed a march in support of Palestine, attended by celebrities from the world of cinema. Thousands of people gathered in Santa Elisabetta Square, on Lido Island near Venice, to highlight the genocide being committed by the occupation in Gaza.
About 5,000 people participated in the march, including figures from trade unions and university students, in addition to Italian film stars such as Tecla Insuglia, Donatella Finocchiaro, Ottavia Piccolo, and Lorenzo Zeppetti. The demonstrators demanded that Western governments stop arming the occupation.
A banner reading “Stop the genocide” was raised during the march, in the colors of the Palestinian flag, and they chanted: “Free Palestine” and “Free Palestine from the river to the sea.”
The demonstration concluded at Guglielmo Marconi Street, at the Cinema Palace, where the Venice International Film Festival is held.
Since the festival began on August 27, Lido Island has witnessed movements in support of the Palestinian people, demanding an end to the genocide in Gaza and demanding that the festival administration take a public stand and condemn the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza.
