UN expects ‘Israel’ to continue destruction of Gaza despite possible hostage deal

GENEVA, Oct. 05 (YPA) – The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, on Saturday, expressed her pleasure at the impending exchange of prisoners between the Hamas movement and the Israeli entity, based on the proposed “Trump plan” for a cessation of aggression on Gaza.

However, she simultaneously voiced regret that only some, and not all, Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons would be released.

In a post on the “X” platform, Albanese stated, “I was asked yesterday if ‘the plan’ would lead to peace. I said, “I’m delighted that the hostages (all Israelis, and sadly only some Palestinians) will finally be released.”

Albanese anticipated the Israeli occupation entity would continue its aggression against Gaza, stating, “My prediction is that Israel will continue destroying Gaza until someone stops it.”

Supported by the US and Europe, the Israeli occupation army has continued to commit crimes of genocide, blockade, and starvation in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. As of today, this has resulted in the killing of 67,074 Palestinian civilians, the majority of whom are children and women, and the injury of 169,430 others. This toll is not final, as thousands of victims remain under the rubble and in the streets, inaccessible to ambulance and rescue crews.
