Sanaa calls for adding Islah Party leaders on international sanctions lists for war crimes

SANAA, Oct. 05 (YPA) – The National Commission for Human Rights at the Ministry of Justice in Sanaa strongly condemned the crime committed by Islah Party gunmen who executed the prisoner Issa Al-Afari in Taiz province.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the commission called for the inclusion of the perpetrators and the Islah Party leaders involved in crimes of execution and torture in international sanctions lists designated for war criminals.

The commission asserted that this crime “is added to the continuous record of violations” perpetrated by Islah Party militants against prisoners and civilians in areas under their control.

The statement demanded an urgent and transparent international investigation into this heinous crime and called for the accountability of its perpetrators.

The commission also urged the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to fulfill its humanitarian duty by following up on the conditions of prisoners and preventing the recurrence of such crimes.
