Shabwa University staff, academics threaten general strike to protest delayed salary payments
SHABWA, Oct. 04 (YPA) – Shabwa University staff and academics have threatened a general strike to protest the continued delay in the payment of their salaries for the fourth consecutive month, amid deteriorating living conditions and rising living costs.
A number of university employees confirmed that the delayed payment of salaries, their sole source of income, has become a significant burden and threatens to disrupt the educational process at the university.
The employees called on the government and local authorities loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in the Shabwa province to promptly disburse their salaries and those of all state employees, warning of the repercussions of this government deficit, which faces a similar threat of a strike at Hadramout University.
