Iran issues scathing criticism of Western policies amid new UK sanctions

TEHRAN, Sept. 29 (YPA) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sharply criticized Western policies and the stances of international organizations regarding regional developments, reaffirming Tehran’s total rejection of any pressure aimed at “subjugating the Iranian people”.

These remarks came as the United Kingdom announced a new round of sanctions targeting Iranian entities and individuals.

Pezeshkian explicitly referred to what he described as Western double standards, emphasizing that the idea of subjugating the Iranian people is merely an illusion, condemning the European and American stance. “They claim to care about humanity while the situation in Gaza deteriorates.”

He also strongly slammed the performance of the international community within the Security Council, particularly the use of the veto to protect the Israeli entity, explaining that a country accused of fomenting chaos in the region for years has never been punished or condemned by the Security Council, thanks to the US veto.

Pezeshkian went further, stating that concepts related to rights and international organizations have lost their credibility in light of current events, declaring that concepts such as human rights, the United Nations, and UNESCO have become mere lies, additionally many innocent people are being killed before the world’s eyes.

In related news, Reuters reported, citing sources, that Britain has imposed new sanctions on 9 individuals and 62 entities. This move comes as part of the escalating international pressure on Tehran.
