Hamas welcomes invitation to international conference for two-state solution

GAZA, Sept. 23 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement in Palestine (Hamas) welcomed, in a press statement on Tuesday, the joint statement issued by the presidency of the international conference on the two-state solution held in New York.

The statement called for obligating the Israeli occupation to a permanent ceasefire, exchanging prisoners, ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid, withdrawing from the Gaza Strip, and halting settlement activity, annexation plans, and land confiscation.

The movement affirmed its welcome of all positions aimed at doing justice to the Palestinian people and fulfilling their aspirations for liberation and return, appreciating international calls to end the occupation and establish a fully sovereign Palestinian state that enables the people to obtain all their legitimate national rights.

Hamas stressed that leaving the extremist right-wing occupation government without deterrence or accountability, in light of the ongoing crimes of genocide and starvation that have been ongoing for 23 months, represents a stain on the countries that support the Israeli occupation or fail to stop its aggression and hold its leaders accountable.

The movement reiterated its affirmation that the Palestinian resistance forces constitute a national movement for liberation and return, stressing that the weapon of resistance is a national right guaranteed by international laws and conventions until the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
