Amid Syrian silence, 24 Israeli incursions recorded in the south

DAMASCUS, Sept. 21 (YPA) -The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Sunday that southern Syria has witnessed a significant military escalation by Israeli occupation forces since the beginning of September.

This escalation included 24 ground incursions into Syrian territory, most of which took place in Quneitra province, with limited extensions into the countryside of Daraa and southwestern Rural Damascus.

SOHR explained that these operations involved raids on homes, the establishment of checkpoints, the bulldozing of agricultural land, and the raising of Israeli flags within Syrian territory.

These actions were accompanied by intensive flights of warplanes and drones, as well as the use of heavy military equipment, including tanks and armored personnel carriers.

The incursions are taking place aimed absence of any official response from the new Syrian government or the forces deployed in the area, raising concerns among residents of border villages who fear that the repeated incursions may be aimed at establishing new facts on the ground.

According to the SOHR, the continued incursions are occurring at a time when there are reportedly undisclosed negotiations between Damascus and the Israeli occupation regarding sensitive issues, reflecting the contradiction between diplomatic efforts and attempts to impose a de facto situation on the ground.

Observers believe that the 24 incursions recorded since the beginning of the month reflect a growing trend of escalation, which could pave the way for a new phase of tensions in southern Syria, despite the announcement by Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara that a security agreement has been reached with the Israeli occupation.
