BEIRUT, Sept. 19 (YPA) – The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, issued an unprecedented call to Saudi Arabia on Friday, urging the kingdom to open a new chapter with the “resistance” movement.
He proposed a dialogue based on addressing mutual concerns and securing common interests.
In a speech marking the first anniversary of the slain leader Ibrahim Aqil, Qassem affirmed that the resistance’s weapons are directed solely against the Israeli enemy, and not against any other party in the world, including Saudi Arabia.
Qassem stressed that any dialogue must be founded on the principle that “Israel is the enemy, not the resistance.” He called for freezing past disputes and questioned the reliability of any American proposal, particularly after the U.S. explicitly declared its actions serve Israeli interests.
Hezbollah’s secretary-general noted that pressuring the resistance is a clear gain for “Israel,” and he insisted that “the resistance will continue regardless of Israel and the United States.”
