ADEN, Sept. 17 (YPA) – A leader in the Islah Party, Ali Ashal, launched a fierce attack on decisions issued by the president of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), Aidarous al-Zubaidi, describing them as coming from an unauthorized body and constituting a “dangerous precedent that affects the structure of state institutions.”
In a post on “Facebook,” Ashal warned the “Presidential Leadership Council” loyal to the Saudi-led coalition against passing these decisions, asserting that doing so would empty the “declaration of power transfer” signed in Riyadh of its legal substance.
Ashal called on the leadership council members to declare al-Zubaidi’s decisions null and void or to return to the body that authorized them, in a clear reference to Riyadh.
Al-Zubaidi had issued decrees appointing loyalists to various positions, which his partners in the Islah and the General People’s Congress parties described as a “dangerous coup.”
