SANAA, Sept. 13 (YPA) – An Israeli journalist published a scandalous document on Saturday, implicating Rashad al-Alimi, the head of the Saudi-led coalition-backed Presidential Leadership Council, who is currently based in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
In a post on X, Israeli journalist ‘Eddy Cohen’ shared what he called an exclusive document dated October 2, 2022. The document revealed a directive from Abdul Salam Abdullah Ba’aboud, the former oil minister in the coalition-backed government, instructing the CEO of the Aden Refineries Company to pay $10 million to Abdulhafidh Rashad al-Alimi.
The document stipulated that the amount be delivered to Alimi’s son “hand to hand.” It also showed that the minister’s order to the Aden Refineries Company was based on a memo from Rashad al-Alimi himself, numbered ‘102’ and dated September 30 of the same year.
Cohen, casting himself as a protector of public funds, accused the so-called “legitimate government” of being preoccupied with “theft and looting” rather than fighting the “Houthis.”
The pro-coalition government has not issued any clarification on the document’s authenticity. The leak appears to be a precursor to the release of more documents, a move that aligns with Emirati-Israeli agendas.
This development follows a recent power struggle, described as a coup, led by the head of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), Aidarous al-Zubaidi, against Al-Alimi, which prompted the latter to leave for Riyadh late last week.
