STC factions control oil company’s warehouse yard in Aden

ADEN, Sept. 09 (YPA) – Armed elements in the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s factions imposed their control over a warehouse belonging to the Oil Company’s warehouses department in the southern Yemeni city of Aden, in an operation described as “thuggery.”

Informed local sources reported that the elements stormed the warehouse yesterday, in armored vehicles and expelled the guards from the warehouse which located in the Khor Maksar area, adjacent to Aden Airport.

The sources linked the seizure of the warehouse to the visit of the Transitional Council leader, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, to Abboud Hospital, adjacent to the warehouse, indicating that the operation was planned in advance.

In response to the seizure, the Oil Company Employees Union issued a statement giving the company’s leadership 24 hours to reclaim the warehouse by peaceful means and end the attacks on company property.

The union vowed that it would resort to open escalation options if the deadline expired without a response.

The seizure of the oil company’s yard comes after similar operations during which STC factions took control of the yard of service institutions, including the Land Transport Corporation and a sports club, including the campus of Aden University, during the past period.
