Mukalla’s residents celebrate Prophet’s Birthday with major religious heritage festival
HADRAMOUT, Sept. 04 (YPA) – The people of Mukalla city, the capital of Hadramout province, eastern Yemen, celebrated on Thursday the Prophet’s Birthday anniversary in a major annual festival organized by the “Al-Rawda Center for Islamic Studies” in cooperation with the “Hayy Fi Qulubina” (Alive in Our Hearts) foundation.
The city’s streets and squares were transformed into a vibrant scene of art and faith. Events began at Al-Rawda Mosque with readings from the Prophet’s biography, followed by solemn processions in which scholars, preachers, community leaders, and students participated.
The festival featured traditional folk troupes performing the “Al-Iddah” dance to the rhythms of drums and folk songs.
On Wednesday evening, a number of preachers gave religious lectures in the city’s mosques, calling for people to follow the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The celebration procession marched from Al-Rawda Mosque to the historic Al-Qu’aiti Sultan’s Palace square, where a religious singing and theatrical performance was held.
The “Al-Mawaddah for Chanting and Heritage Revival” group presented a show titled “Nour Al-Wujud” (Light of Existence), and the “Al-Qanadil” chanting group performed several pieces that blended tradition with spirituality.
