HADRAMOUT, Sept. 03 (YPA) – The authorities loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in the oil-rich province of Hadramout issued a circular on Wednesday ordering the freezing of salaries for both permanent and contracted teachers for the past month of August.
A copy of the circular, obtained by the agency, stipulated that teachers would only receive their salaries after providing proof of “commencement of work” from their respective schools.
The salary freeze comes as a comprehensive strike continues in 90% of schools in Hadramout’s coastal districts.
Teachers are demanding that the coalition-backed government improve their living conditions and raise their wages.
