SANAA, Sept. 03 (YPA) – Spanish teachers launched a protest against the Israeli occupation before the start of the new school year.
“Maria Palestina” movement, founded to support Palestine, peacefully took over several buildings across the country, particularly in the capital, Madrid.
Dozens of teachers and university professors gathered in a main hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts building, waving Palestinian flags and raising a banner reading: “Free Palestine, Education against genocide.”
Campaign organizers emphasized that the goal of this move is to call for an end to the aggression on Gaza and to urge the Spanish government to take urgent action, most notably halting arms sales to the Israeli occupation and severing all diplomatic and commercial relations with it, through the issuance of an official government decree.
The movement intends to continue the peaceful sit-ins until the end of the week, during which statements will be read condemning the war crimes and genocide committed in Gaza and demanding that the Spanish government end all forms of cooperation with the Israeli occupation.
