SANAA, Sept. 03 (YPA) – Fans of Spanish club Villarreal launched attack campaign against their team for signing an Israeli player in the final hours of the transfer window who has publicly supported his country’s war in the Gaza Strip.
Villarreal fans attacked the club on social media after the signing of Manoro Solomon on Monday.
Solomon, 26 years old, joined Villarreal on a season-long loan from Tottenham, whereas the Israeli player spent last season on loan at Leeds United, helping them advance to the English Premier League.
Solomon was subjected to fierce attacks from English fans after posting messages of support for Israel in the war.
The player had previously played for English clubs Fulham and Shakhter Donetsk.
Villarreal will begin their Champions League campaign this season against English club Tottenham on September 16.
