Colombia completely stops coal exports to Israeli occupation

SANAA, Aug. 31 (YPA) – The Colombian government announced the entry into force of a new decree, stipulating a complete ban on the export of coal to the Israeli occupation, based on direct instructions from President Gustavo Petro.

In a statement, the Colombian government explained that the decision is based on the continuation of hostilities against the Palestinian people, noting that all previous exceptions, including those based on long-term contracts, have been completely abolished.

A statement issued by the Colombian Ministry of Trade stated that the export of coal contributes to fueling the war machine, stressing that the ban will remain in effect until the implementation of the International Court of Justice’s precautionary measures.

Trade Minister Diana Marcia Morales Rojas said, “Colombia cannot stand idly by in the face of the suffering of the Palestinian people. This step represents a tangible contribution to de-escalating the war.”

It is noteworthy that Colombia officially severed diplomatic relations with the Israeli occupation on May 3, in protest against its aggression on Gaza
