Saudi Arabia arrests journalist “Al-Haiqi” at Jeddah Airport

RIYADH, Aug. 21 (YPA) – Saudi authorities arrested a journalist and activist from Hadramout, Mujahid Al-Haiqi, while accompanying his mother after performing Umrah rituals at Jeddah Airport and took him to an unknown location.

Yemeni human rights sources confirmed that Al-Haiqi has been detained by Saudi authorities since last Tuesday, when he attempted to leave Jeddah Airport for Cairo with his mother, who has been receiving treatment there for months.

They explained that security forces took Al-Haiqi to his residence, accompanied by female officers, and searched him. He was then taken to an unknown location without stating the reasons for his arrest.

Activists on social media called on the Saudi authorities to release Al-Haiqi. They also called on the Yemeni embassy in Riyadh to intervene urgently, but it has not yet taken action or provided any clarifications about the reasons for the arrest.
