Zionist officer dead in apparent suicide, marking 17th military suicide in 2025

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Aug. 16 (YPA) – Captain Yosef Haim Ashraf, a 28-year-old commando unit reservist in the occupation army was found lifeless in the Switzerland Forest near Tiberias after taking his own life, Israeli Channel 12 reported on Friday.

The Israeli military announced that the Military Police have initiated an investigation regarding the soldier’s death, and the results will be forwarded to the Military Advocate General for evaluation.

Ashraf was laid to rest on Friday afternoon in the military section of the Tiberias cemetery. The funeral was attended by family members, friends, and fellow soldiers.

According to the report, Ashraf served as a combat officer in an elite commando unit and had completed hundreds of days in reserve duty. His comrades described him as “a hero both on the battlefield and in civilian life.”

This marks the 17th suicide incident within the military since the start of the year.
